In order to shoot the Halloween greeter video I needed something stable to hold the iPhone. The best way to hold a camera stable is with a tripod, but the iPhone doesn't have a built-in way to mount to a tripod, and neither does my case. I did a few searches to get ideas and saw lots of crazy contraptions using suction cups, 3D-Printed things, piles of stuff picked up from the hardware store, and other crazy things. The biggest thing they had in common was they were designed to work only with an iPhone that was not in a case. I want something that doesn't require me to take the phone out of the case.

I went out in the garage and looked around at junk I had laying around to see if anything caught my eye. Up on the wall I noticed I had a couple of tiny squeeze clamps from Harbor Freight. I've never done much with them because they are so tiny. But they looked perfect. The only other thing I needed was a 1/4-20 nut and some superglue.

It works perfectly. The superglue probably won't hold forever, but it should last long enough. And since I used a clamp I can use this with more than just my iPhone, I'll also be able to use it with webcams and other phones.
