BBQ cart from recycled redwood
06 Apr | 12I made this cart in June of 2008 about a week before the 4th of July. For some reason it never got posted to my blog. The redwood came from some raised beds in my yard that I ripped out. Parts of it were pretty badly rotted - I mean spalted - but there was enough to make the cart. I only had to edge glue the two long side pieces on the top to get boards big enough. The plans came from Ron Hazelton , I saw it on his show the year before but didn't have time to make it. I made some...

I need my own lumber mill
08 Jan | 08Last Friday I woke up to find 3 large branches had been torn off my maple tree during the big storm that had happened. Looking out the window they didn't seem that big, but when I got out next to them, they were huge ! I don't think the damage to the fence is too severe since it's just a wire fence. It looked simple enough so I decided to give it a try. The first few attempts weren't pretty, but I quickly got...

Pizza Protector
16 Oct | 07I made this shield to protect the crust of my pizza from drying out too much while cooking. In the past I've used aluminum foil to protect the crust, but it's a lot of work to prep the pizza, and it tends to stick to the cheese and I end up with aluminum bits or else tearing off big chunks of the pizza. For a few years I was able to do without shielding since the Freschetta 8" pizzas didn't cook for as long. Unfortunately Freshetta discontinued their 8" pizzas, and...
